Sol Plaatje University (SPU), established in 2014, is a public university located in Kimberley, Northern Cape, committed to providing high-quality education and research. SPU plays a vital role in regional development by fostering innovation, entrepreneurship, and skills development.

The Centre for Entrepreneurship & Rapid Incubator (CfERI) at SPU’s Upington Learning Centre is dedicated to supporting entrepreneurial growth among youth and Small, Medium, and Micro Enterprises (SMMEs) in the ZF Mgcawu District. Established in 2017 and integrated into SPU in 2021, CfERI focuses on business development, technology transfer, and job creation. It provides business coaching, marketing support, funding access, and incubation services for startups in key sectors such as Agriculture, Tourism, and ICT.
